What support do we offer?

We offer assessment, consultation and training to teachers and other staff who work with children with severe communication impairments who may benefit from communication aid technology.

We provide inservice training to meet schools’ needs and provide a long-term support service for all those involved with the individual child.

We also offer a loan bank of equipment which is loaned to the school for the child’s individual needs. Maintenance and upgrading and reviewing of needs are also done on a regular basis.

Who can receive our services?

Our service is available to all young children from birth who reside in the following regions of Lothian: City of Edinburgh, West Lothian, Mid Lothian, East Lothian.

All schools and partnership nurseries within the specified regions.

How do school staff access the service?

School staff can refer any child to Keycomm for assessment. Each school is sent a quarterly newsletter which also includes our inservice training schedule on a term by term basis.

There is a referral form (available online) and each school must identify a key person for our service to link with. If contacting by phone, contact Deborah Jans, Coordinator  on 0131-443-6775
