Who do we work with?
VTSS work with children and young people from birth and throughout the school years.
We work with children and young people who have a disability and, in the case of preschool children, who are awaiting a diagnosis.
This would include preschool children whose needs arise from:
- Communication difficulties
- Learning disabilities
- Challenging behaviour
- Physical difficulties
And learners of any age who may have:
- Hearing impairment
- Visual impairment
- Speech and language impairment
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Down Syndrome
- Challenging behaviour as a result of a disability
What do we offer?
Assessment and advice on
- Support arrangements within class or within school
- Adaptations or modifications to the curriculum
- Approaches to teaching and management, including any specialist approaches or programmes
- Suitable learning materials (including the provision of materials for deaf or visually impaired pupils where required)
- Adaptations or modifications to the class or school environment
Consultation and advice towards an ASP, IEP or CSP.
Direct work with the pupil, normally task oriented and time limited.
Modelling teaching
Management strategies
Contribution to selected reviews
Assistance with transition planning
Involvement in decisions about future placement
Advice on support and resources which may be required
Work with parents and support for parents and families
Training for school staff
Joint working with other partnership services and agencies including Psychological Services, EAL and HOTS, and with social work and health
Advice on referral to other agencies.
How do we become involved?
We require the parent’s informed consent to the referral.
Establishments then complete a referral form available on EGfL or from VTSS on
