Jacobites

A webquest for Level C-D (Primary 6-7).

Ye Jacobites ~ Traditional

'Ye Jacobites by name lend an ear, lend an ear,

Ye Jacobites by name lend an ear,

Ye Jacobites by name your faults I do proclaim,

Your doctrines I must blame you shall hear, you shall hear,

Your doctrines I must blame you shall hear.'

Jacobites. The mere mention of the word Jacobites instils a feeling of both pride and

sadness and a wonderment of 'what might have been' in many a Scottish person.

Why?

During this webquest you will investigate the importance of the Jacobite Rebellion,

what led to it, what happened during it and what life was like in Scotland after it.

Conclusion

Introduction | Task | Process | Evaluation | Resources | Conclusion | Teacher's page

During this webquest you should have become aware of the

background to the uprisings, the Jacobite Rebellion and the

final crushing of the supporters during the aftermath.

It was a time of oppression and of battle when families were

deliberately split to fight on opposing sides so that the family

line would continue....no matter who were the victors.

Hope emerged when Bonnie Prince Charlie led his men upon

London, only to turn at Derby....do you think he should have continued?

There are any different characters throughout Scotland’s history. Why not

find out about Flora MacDonald, William Wallace and Robert the Bruce.

Scotland has a history just waiting for you to discover!

Meanwhile, print out your Certificate of Completion! Well done! (Remember to add your name!)
