Now in their ninth year, the Awards celebrate success and good practice across the Children and Families Department and are open to teams of staff rather than individuals.
Here you'll find category information and the application form (Word, 173kB) that must be filled in and sent back along with any supplementary evidence. Please try and keep any supplementary evidence to a minimum. You can include CD’s and DVD’s as part of your application. Please keep a record of everything submitted.

Applicants in this category should demonstrate flexible and innovative ways of working that foster potential, encourage a creative and enterprising spirit and strive to achieve positive goals and outcomes.
Projects in this category focus on promoting healthy minds and healthy bodies. Successful applicants may work with individuals or groups in the fields of health, learning, sport and social care. You or your team's area of interest may be drug or alcohol awareness, self-esteem, nutrition or fitness any area that supports and promotes wellbeing.
This category recognises individuals or groups who make a difference to their own lives or the lives of others. Projects in this category support meaningful and rewarding participation in the local or global community. Projects may focus on improving local or global environments, fair trade or sustainable futures. They should also encourage the development of participant’s knowledge, life skills, abilities, teamwork and confidence.
Projects in this category encourage inclusion and/or challenge stereotypes and discrimination. Applicants should demonstrate how they reach out to a diverse range of groups or individuals within the city.
Applicants should demonstrate how integrated working between staff from different disciplines within the department has positively impacted on the lives or experiences of children and families within the city.
Many Children and Families department staff deliver services by working in partnership with a variety of external organisations and practitioners. Applicants in this category should demonstrate how a partnership between Children and Families staff and others has successfully benefited individuals or groups.
This award is chosen by an adjudication panel from all the entries received.
All entries will contribute to a best practice brochure. Winners will also receive a trophy and £500. The closing date for applications is Tuesday 9 September 2008. These awards are open to projects and initiatives involving staff throughout Children and Families.
The awards ceremony will take place in The Hub on Tuesday 18 November 2008.
