Supporting pupils absent from school

In terms of the Accessibility Strategy, schools are encouraged to improve home/school communication for pupils who are absent for extended or frequent periods. The Hospital and Outreach Teaching Service - H.O.T.S - has drafted a protocol that schools could adapt. You can find this on the link below under medical protocol http://egfl.net/ASL/Services_folder/ASLserviceshots.html

School Accessibility Lead

The new Accessibility Strategy asks for schools to consider who could be the Accessibility Lead to provide a link over accessibility issues. This might be the Equalities Co-ordinator, ASL team leader, Head or Depute.

Please let Dinah know who will be the nominated person in your school - Dinah Aitken, Accessibility Strategy Manager, on e-mail: dinah.aitken@edinburgh.gov.uk or tel: 0131 529 2128.
